Production Challenges

Writer's picture: Anas AtaAnas Ata

In every scenario, there are a lot of difficulties one faces while producing any form of video. Similarly, we encountered a lot of problems during the shoot. The first problem we had was in the shot in which the child was sitting on the bench, the problem we were having was of focus as I was shooting on auto-focus mode, the camera's focus just went crazy for a few shots before I got a clean one and I accepted that. In all three of the production days, Ahmed's camera messed up because he only had a 4gb memory card so we had to stop and start the recording after each question I asked, Also his camera was set to auto mode and his lens was limited to f5.6 so we had a lot of grain in footage recorded using the canon d5300. Another issue we encountered was the battery running out mid shoot, we did not realize and missed a lot of footage, luckily we were still there and we asked the child to give us another interview since I had a spare battery.

Originally, the documentary had a voiceover done by my friend as she had a nicer English accent but some things went wrong and we could not record a voice over.
